The fourth year of the Junior Enterprise Game has just completed the third term with 36 schools consisting of 57 classes and a total of 1,443 pupils taking part in the game.
The game is based on producing and selling polo shirts, and the pupils were tasked to work together to come up with a company name and logo.
They then had to decide on the amount of shirts to produce and the selling price, how many workers to employ and the wage rate to be paid, the advertising and research and development budget and whether or not to spend money on market research.
Once the pupils had made their decisions, the decisions were entered into a computer and the teams received a print-out showing their trading and profit and loss account, and the value of each team’s share price.
The aim of the game was to try and increase the share price – and the team with the highest share price was declared the winner.
Once all the schools have played the game (47 schools – 77 classes – 462 teams!), the top 6 share price teams will play in the Grand Final to be held in June 2006.
