......Challenge 'planning for the
future...our new campus with Beechwood' 9am -3pm.  Pupils will be asked to consider the necessary planning and organisation for playground areas to include the needs of both schools. This to be a means of starting the pupils of Mile End to think more about the ethos of a joint campus school.

Kirkhill primary School pupil council organize a very successful business breakfast at AECC, to which schools and their business partners (or potential business partners) were invited.  The aim was to promote business partnership and to share ideas about enterprising learning in Aberdeen.

MAKE IT IN SCOTLAND

The Grampian Make it in Scotland event for S2 pupils was held at the Beach Leisure Centre Aberdeen.  Over 4000 pupils attended the Grampian event each pupil having three 20-minute activities, with three different employers.

Around 30 manufacturing organisations participated each day.

CRAFTY PUPILS SELL THEIR WARES


In the run up to Christmas 2004, primary and secondary school pupils who are involved in enterprise activities sold their wares to Christmas shoppers inside Aberdeen City Council’s craft and activity marquees.

CAREER BOX TRAINING FOR PRIMARY AND SPECIAL SCHOOL STAFF

Summerhill Centre: room 158 (ICT Training Room). 

  We will purchase the Career Box resource for all our schools.  Careers Scotland will provide training in the use of the resource.  The training sessions are designed to provide teaching staff with an overview of the resource, demonstrating its links to national initiatives.  You will get the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the resource.  The pack is designed to equip young people with the skills required to take responsibility for career planning and lifelong learning.

A one-day event took place at Summerhill Education Centre to help participants to

  • become more familiar with the aims of the Determined to Succeed programme and the Aberdeen City Targets

  • find out about available resources and good practice

  • submit bids to the Challenge Fund

  • share and generate ideas for successful enterprise

roadshow

This very successful roadshow was held at the Beach Leisure Centre in Aberdeen.  441 students from three city schools took part.   Unfortunately the roadshows on 25-27 February had to be cancelled due to the weather.

Ferryhill Primary School were presented with the National Award for Excellence in Enterprise in Education at an Award ceremony at Strathclyde University

Kirkhill Primary School were presented with the Advanced Award for Excellence in Enterprise in Education at an Award ceremony at Strathclyde

 
17 JUNE 2004

Woodside Nursery were presented with the very first National Enterprise in Education award in Edinburgh.  

They set up an Enterprise Week as part of a project to improve facilities in the nursery's garden and to raise funds through a raffle.  This included different activities such as paying money into a bank, using a cheque book, an Enterprising Infants game, using a telephone book and making a poster.  The children took part in play activity which raised their awareness of concepts such as enterprise, advertising, money and teamwork.

 
JUNE 2004

Kirkhill Primary School obtained the National Advanced Award for Excellence in Enterprise In Education - developed with the support of Motorola.   For further details of this award
