The Police Box A resource, produced by Grampian Police, for young people age 5-14 that promotes health, well being, safety and personal and social development.
Learning for Life CD- ROMs These CD-ROMs were developed from the Police Box to cover personal safety, health education and citizenship.  The first volume covers Drugs Sense, Vandalism and Bullying in 76 interactive lessons and the second volume covers Safety and Citizenship/Law & Order in 53 interactive lessons.  Teachers have a section that has an easy-to-use interface, comprehensive contents and index.  Information sheets, such as an illustrated drugs database and in-service workshops, can be printed. The disks are designed for groups aged 5-8 years, 8-10 years and 10-13 years.
Think B4U Drink Think B4U Drink is a fantastic and educational board game about alcohol, but it’s more than just Snakes and Ladders, it’s a virtual drinking experience with activity, drama, emotion and competition thrown in. The game is best played with 13-16 year olds, young people who are considering and experimenting with alcohol, but it has something to offer for all teens and adults too. The game comes out of Scotland, with a Grampian stamp due to the sixty or so young people who helped to design it, and would have a role across the UK with some small changes to the legal information it contains.

Think B4U Drink was evaluated in 2004 by Anni Stonebridge and Jennie Biggs, and has been endorsed by the Scottish Executive. The reason the game is successful is that it closely reflects teen environments and experiences, allowing them to test their own and their mates’ decisions and behaviour.

The group backing the game are currently marketing the game in Scotland, and hope to extend this across the UK. Contact Anni Stonebridge for details.

THE EXPLORING ALCOHOL ACTIVITY PACK

A summary of the evaluation of the pack produced by the Greater Glasgow Health Board Health Promotion Department.  The aim of the pack is to support teachers in the delivery of alcohol education.  The activities seek to improve knowledge, to discuss and challenge pupils’ attitudes to alcohol related issues and to promote a culture of personal responsibility for behaviour under the influence of alcohol. The pack is aimed at young people between 10 and 12 years of age.  It contains 8 separate teaching sessions, each devised to be ‘stand alone’ so that teachers can select individual sessions based upon pupil need.   Each session includes an optional computer activity that aims to reinforce and further develop a pupil’s understanding of the issues raised.
